A few days after the announcement of XBox 360, Sony shocked the world with their own PS3 announcement. Slated for a Spring 2006 release, it is going to use blue-ray technology with wireless access and 35 times more powerful than the PS2. It will also utilize the PSP as an external controller displaying extra info in games. Already there are blockbuster titles announced. Microsoft is in trouble again.
I think at first glance it is definitely a beautiful machine with very high-tech feel. It reminds me of the original PS2 which is flat and can stand up-right. But the controller has a more drastic change with the curves in handles, like a boomerang. It looks nicer than the XBox 360. Anyways as a gamer there is no escape for me to get one when it is released. The hope I have is that instead of keep churning out blockbuster sequels, I'd rather see some innovative games on the PS3. Not that I am complaining. But I mean, the power of 3 processors inside PS3 is good, but a lot of fun games don't need this much of power but still can be loads of fun and being innovative. Games like Katamari, Viewtiful Joe, touchpad on the Nintendo DS and some examples of why games are so fun.
Can we have some fun and innovative games Sony?
