This year's Calvin College 85th Commencement will have president Bush as the guest speaker. I've spoken with some alumnus about this. Some think it is not a good thing. Some think it is exciting news. I know president Bush is definitely not the most popular person with many of the country's issues at hand (let's not get into those!). I don't necessarily agree with many of Bush's policies. Nevertheless, i think it is a great honor to have the president to address the school during commencement. It is especially significant for the graduates of this year because they get to listen to the president's encouragement before they come to work or continue their education. If I am one of the grads this year, I will be quite excited. It marks the 2nd time president Bush come to Calvin. The last time was in 2000 during the presidential debate when Senator John McCain was at the school as well.
