Another brilliant performance by the Singaporean-born singer-song writer Corrinne May. She came to SF bay-area and sang in Barefoot Espresso with another singer-song writer Aruna. They are having this mini California tour driving an SUV. 4/23 was Corrinne's 2nd CD album release party down in LA. I couldn't go but she came to Santa Clara for a performance. So I only need to drive an hour to catch her music this time :)
This time she sang a few songs from her new album: 'Little Superhero girl', 'Everything in its time', 'Angel in Disguise', 'The Birthday Song', 'Every Beat of My Heart'. Also did some songs in her magnificant 1st album: 'Fly Away', 'Mr. Beasley'. I really like some of the songs' lyrics. Many of them have Christian root (Corrinne herself is a Catholic), talking about heaven, prayer and angels. Of course, Corrinne lyrics' themes are always surrounding everyday activities. The coffee house is small and there are just a few of us. But her angelic voice captures all our attention throughout the night. Sitting next to me was a gentleman who is new to Corrinne. He came because he was on her mailing list. We chatted a little bit and found out he is a Singaporean. We both like the music very much and agreed it is a great music night to unwind on a Friday night. It was good to chat with Corrinne herself. She actually remembers me this time :) Like an old friend, we chatted during intermission. She is such a friendly but brilliant artist.
