This weekend I attended a series of seminars on Christian spirituality. I do not have many chances to go to one of these seminars in the past. So I gave this a try since the speaker is a very respectable person with two PhDs and have a background with Chinese culture.
It was a very fun and illustrative seminar. The speaker drew a lot from his personal experiences and how his life journey with his ex-wife's cancer process and his young daughter's prolonged illness. With all these, he can still come out and speak about his bitter life experiences and his continued faith in God. It is truly amazing. I realized that if a person is capable of bearing trials and responsibilities, then God will give the maximum amount of trials and responsibilities to this person. These trials, although to the person will be quite unbearable, they will not be impossible to bear in his/her life. I think God give us all life homework to do and He want us to do them well.
One thing I have confirmed in this seminar is the importance of the Bible. God want us to know the Bible inside-out and constantly reading it. I admit I have not been actively reading Bible everyday. God's own purposes for us and His image is all recorded in the Bible in details. I am glad that I have been on the right path, just that I have not been actively engaging myself to reading the Bible. I believe I need to read more often from now.
There are so many interesting points the speaker made regarding Christianity, Spirituality and being a Christian in general. I find them amusing but practical. I do look forward to more of these seminars in the future.
