Rented "Bruce Almighty" by Jim Carey from my local Longs. It was a surprisingly good movie. I thought it is all funny and jokes, but obviously it has more.
First part of movie really cracked me up as Jim Carey was this dumbass news-reporter got laughed by everyone. His life was so messed up and then he met God played by Morgan Freeman. The second part of the movie is quite moving to me. Jim had the power of God and did whatever He wants and granted everyone's their wishes, but the world turns out to be a worse place. Then Jim started to care about his girlfriend and people around him and he finally realized he can make miracles everyday in people's lives. No need to have God's power.
Jim is as funny as ever. His is really dumb, but really entertaining. One of the best part is the movie is when he split the tomato soup into two halves, immitating the red-sea splitting from the old testament in the bible. Jim is having this Moses' like look - my goodness i was laughing soooo hard i had a stomachache.
A very funny, but very touching movie to watch on a thanksgiving day.
Happy Thanksgiving! What's your plan? I might go hiking with the church people on Friday and my friend from Sacramento will come visit on Sat. Other than these I'll just stay home. A much needed rest after some busy days at work. Oh, and probably have thanksgiving dinner at home. Not sure if we'll have turkey since no one in the family is a big turkey fan :-)
I've been listening to ZARD new single for 30 times now. It is a routine for me to listen continuously whenever ZARD release a new one.
I've to wear my thick coat I bought from Michigan this morning when I dropped off my car at the body shop. Reminds me the snowy weather back in Grand Rapids. Good thing is that i really like my coat so being able wearing it back to work is not that bad after all.
I got a Mitsubishi Lancer for the rental. It is a nice little car. With a CD player (this is one of the most important as I can't drive w/o music) which is nice. The people at the body shop were really friendly and effective. It took me less that 10 minutes to get my damaged car all set.
BSF tonight was quite good. The lecture got me thinking a lot. One of the principles we got from 1 Kings 17-21 is that what matters most is not what we do for God in public, but how we relate with Him and seek Him in private. A lot of times I see Christians being very active at church and seem to be so godly. They lead bible study and bring people to Christ. In private, they might be a whole different person.
Another principle when we were exhausted with our walk with Christ, God will personally comfort us. When we were down and feel lonely He will always come to rescue. But, God will send us back to the spiritual battle immediately afterwards. There is no resting. As Christians we've to fight the battle continuously. This reminds me of times when we feel down and disappointed with people around us, disappointed with self etc, we still have to fight our way back because God has equipped me His strength.
This afternoon I went to the south for my debut performance in the choral group. It was a great concert. We sang 6-7 songs and they all came out very well. I was a bit nervous on stage and I guess it's because it was my first time performing with this group. Anyways, it was so much fun and I am glad I joined the group although now it is a bit far for me to go practice. There were about 150 audiences. We had a performance full of energy. It was better than I expect!
Anyhow, something unfortunate happened tonight. My Jetta was being rear-ended by a 20-year old kid driving his parent's SUV. Obviously the kid was too careless at that junction. My Jetta's trunk got smashed prety badly. Fortunately I wasn't hurt and it is more of a hassle than anything. I was changing lanes and then suddenly felt that smashing. It all happened in 1 second. The kid was really apologetic and he wanted to settle this outside the court since he got into so many accidents before. The police came and they took care of business, which was excellent. You know what? It is my first rear-ended accident since I got my driver's license 7 years ago.
Kind of spoiled the good day a bit. But it was a good day anyways with the performance and a day of rest after my first week at work. I am thankful.
Here I am at the office, going over time. In my memory I don't really have over time work til this late (10pm now). I might need to stay for a while. Well, I wasn't too thrilled about it when I knew about I needed to stay and can't get off. But think about it, if the company needs me then it's a good thing. And my boss knows and he appreciates! So, a good thing.
Anyways, checked nba.com and Mavericks won!! Beat the Spurs hohoho.
2 more days to my first vocal concert after I joined a choral group. I can't wait...it's going to be fun.
Had a wonderful evening practicing for the x'mas drama at church. It's going to be a lot of fun. I don't have too much script to memorize so it is a good thing definitely as I'm so busy with my new job now.
Anyways, it's something to relax after a day of work :-) I hope this drama is going to attract a lot of non-believers to come to church and get the message from it. It is the most important reason of this drama.
Got up real early today to go to work. My workplace is about 20 minutes from where I live, so it was really nice. Never before have I work this close. Got to meet most colleagues and talked to my supervisors. I am going to have some very busy and long days, but I think I am going to enjoy the work to the max!
